Mountaintop is a new game studio creating multiplayer games for players that crave a challenge. We’re an independent, remote-first studio primarily located in the US.

THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer who’s passionate about building extraordinary new experiences that inspire others. Senior Platform Engineers make for great games, so you’ll play a crucial role in bringing our first title to life.

YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Building out online services for Mountaintop games using our in-house framework

• Assisting in implementing client-side game features that interface with online services

• Developing and maintaining continuous deployment systems for services

• Contributing to concept, direction, and gameplay for all Mountaintop projects

• Establishing engineering best practices that ensure high-quality results

• Participating in a live operations on-call rotation for monitoring and responding to game issues

• Contributing to a team culture that prides itself on excellence, innovation, trust, and respect

ABOUT YOU

• A love for playing and making amazing games

• Experience with languages used to build web services (Java or Kotlin preferred but not required)

• Experience with operational and deployment automation (Terraform, Salt, Chef, Puppet, etc.)

• Experience with cloud providers (AWS preferred but not required)

• Experience with front-end web technologies and frameworks

• Experience with relational database technologies (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)

• Eager to contribute to many different areas of development

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Self-motivated, with great time management skills

• Willing to take risks and learn from failure

PLUSES

• Experience working with Unreal Engine 4

• Experience running dedicated servers for online games

• Computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related degree
